Fethiye on Turkeys Mediterranean coast, sits at the head of a beautiful bay strewn with islands. A hill crowned by the ruins of the crusader fortress built by the Knights of Rhodes overlooks the port and, above the town, numerous Lycian rock tombs
are cut into the face of the cliff.
The town is a prosperous mix of tradition, history and new investment.
Fethiye is a bustling resort town and also a working regional centre. Good range of shops, restaurants and accommodation and excellent transport services to surrounding attractions. The harbour area is a great place to spend an evening and there are plenty of boat trips to see the bay and the quieter beaches and coves only accessible from the sea.
The Fethiye region is idyllic, with turquoise seas, a dramatic coastline and pine-clad mountains with hidden valleys and gorges. Steady winds make the bay perfect for sailing and windsurfing.
Getting There
Dalaman is the closest airport for Fethiye, Marmaris, Oludeniz and Kalkan. Charter flights go direct to Dalaman from international destinations every summer. Alternatively Istanbul and Ankara have more international flights and daily links
with Dalaman. Dalaman closes to international flights during the winter.
Dalaman is about 31m north-west of Fethiye and takes about 45 mins by car. |
