Turkey has the ideal climate ( April to October ) perfect for relaxing on sandy beaches or enjoying the tranquility of mountains and lakes. Turkey is full of historic treasures from 13 successive civilizations spanning over 10,000 years. There is much to see in Turkey however long your vacation may be.
With a coastline of some 5,000 miles ( 8,333 Km ). Turkey is surrounded by water on 3 sides. The Black Sea in the north, the Mediterranean in the south and the Aegean Sea in the west. The Sea of Marmara is situated to the north-west between the straits of the Dardanelles and the Bosphorus.

Transport
Rail Network - The extensive network of the Turkish State Railways connects to most major cities. The trains have most facilities offered by worldwide networks including a first and second class service. In the Aegean region, it is possible for groups to charter a steam train, which has all the amenities for trips with a route of your choice that allows you a more relaxed way of travelling through this beautiful region.
Road Network - Turkey has an extensive network of well maintained roads linking its towns, cities, and popular tourist areas.
The Dolmus is the typical type of transport used by locals and very cheap, definitely a very interesting way to travel and only to be found in Turkey. It is a collective taxi which follows specific routes and much cheaper than traveling by taxi. The "dolmus" provides a service within large cities, to suburbs, airports, and often to neighboring towns.
Travelling by bus is a very economical and painless especially if you have a long journey and you don´t mind sleeping whilst traveling. The major regional transport hubs are all interconnected with regular day and/or night services. It is not always possible to obtain return tickets and booking a time and seat is always a good idea as soon as you arrive at your destination.
Some of the better companies have minibuses stationed at major destinations to collect and deliver passengers to outlying regions. This can save you a fair bit of cash in taxi fares.
Travelling by taxi is fine as long as you ensure that the meter is working and zeroed before you go anywhere. Remember there are day and night rates.
Car Rental - There are many rent-a-car services in Turkey. Additional information and prices can be obtained from, local Tourist Information Offices or travel agents.
Education
In Turkey education is performed under the supervision and control of the state. According to the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey, everyone has the right to receive education. This includes for the arrangement of educational high schools for children of school age who are needy or require special care. |
