The island of Ibiza is the closest of all the Balearic islands
to mainland Spain and has a 200 km coastline with over 50 white sandy beaches. The stunning
coast is topped by green pine forests, quiet villages and olive groves.
Ibiza has an average of 300 days of sunshine each year, with mild winters and hot summers.
Temperatures usually remain above zero making Ibiza an excellent
island to visit in all
seasons.
Ibiza has been the Mediterranean's most celebrated party island for decades and was
even recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records as the " entertainment island of the world "
in the1990s. Today Ibiza has plenty to offer families and older visitors with many attractions,
activities and historic points of interest. The island offers excellent sporting facilities
such as waterskiing, sailing, diving, windsurfing, snorkelling, pedaloes, golf and tennis.
On land sports on offer include hiking, climbing, mountain biking, golf and tennis.
Ibiza town is one of the best preserved medieval towns in the whole of Europe.
The town has
several museums worth visiting including the Museu Arquealógic and the museum of
the Puig des Molins necropolis. It also has plenty of shopping facilities with large stores
as well as shops and markets selling more traditional goods and crafts.
Ibizas tourist attractions include the famous Cova d'es Culleram, caves discovered in
1907, Es Vedrá Rock which stands 400 metres above the sea, Ponyland - a perfect
day out for children with pony rides and lots of activities, and the tiny
village Poblado
de Balàfia, consisting of historic houses featuring traditional architecture. |
