Spain - Costa Tropical |
| |
 |
| |
The Costa Tropical, recently featured on Channel 4's " A Place
in the Sun " , is arguably the last remaining unspoilt Costa in Southern Spain. The Costa
starts to the east of Nerja and the difference in landscape is enormous.
The coastline changes from sandy beaches synonomous with the Costa del Sol to steep sometimes
sheer mountainous headlands producing a glorious combination
of secluded bays against a
backdrop of awesone mountain scenery. More
traditional beaches can still be found at La Herradura and Almunecar.
The inland terrain is maintained by farmers using methods unchanged in centuries. Due to it's
unique micro-dry climate and over 320 days of sun per year, it also offers an average year round
temperature of 20 degrees.
Access from Granada airport is good with motorway connections nearly all the way, taking about
an hour and a half. Motorway connections from Malaga Airport will
soon be improved by the
extension of the coast motorway due to be completed in 2007. This will reduce the journey time
to around 1 hour. |
