Estepona is a popular tourist destination that has succeeded in retaining its traditional character and charm. Narrow cobbled streets wind through the town and are lined with cafes and tapas bars that still serve typical Spanish cuisine.
Estepona is sheltered on its northern reaches by the slopes of the Sierra Bermeja
( maximum height is 1.449 meters at the summit of Los Reales ). The district has a varied landscape with smooth undulating terrain divided by
scores of streams and small rivers.
Estepona has a wonderful, quiet cove Playa de Cristo which is ideal for small children because of its shallow, safe waters.
There is also a long, sandy beach
called La Rada and a small nudist beach. The beaches are very clean and well
cared for and all have bars on them. In total there is 23km of sand.
Estepona port and harbour was built in 1977 – it is a short walk from the centre. It
is mainly fishing and sports orientated. There is a market here on Sundays.
With more than 20 km. of coast the whole area is great for water sports.
