Spain - Costa del Azahar - Castellon |

Castellon lies on the Mediterranean coast on the Costa del Azahar,
a coastline
which stretches from Vinaros in the north and close to the boundary with Catalonia, to Almera
in the south which leads the way to the province of Valencia.
The coastline takes the form of a spectacular carpet of greenery with orange plantations intertwined,
whilst the inland landscape is of a more rugged, mountainous and wild nature. There are areas steeped
in history and full of fine monuments, as well as extraordinarily beautiful sites which, unspoilt
my man, are the same today as they were many hundreds of years ago.
The fine sandy beaches are famed for their calm, crystal-clear waters and are
ideal for a variety of water sports. Today the beaches and resorts of the Costa
del Azahar are popular with Spanish and foreigners alike, particularly with many French simply
driving down the motorway.
Castellon de la Plana is the capital city of the province of Castellon and lies 6 km inland
from the Mediterranean Sea, and 64 km northeast of Valencia City. , Castellón is a progressive
city in which traditional plazas and narrow streets combine with broad, modern avenues to form a special
atmosphere. With its deep cultural roots, and combination of Gothic and Renaissance monuments, parks,
traditional and modern shops any visitor to this city will have a pleasant
experience, full of surprises. It has carefully attended beaches which lay on both sides of the port.
A substantial part of the provincial economy is accounted for by the large amount of exports which
are shipped from here each year, based mainly on
ceramic tile manufacturing, agriculture and tourism.
The city's mean annual temperature is 17°C., enabling outdoor activities to be practised throughout
the year. Some of the local activities include sailing, boat trips to the nearby Columbretes Islands,
a protected marine area 35 miles off the coast. 2 local 18 hole golf courses, museum of fine art,
planetarium, caves, water parks. |
