Portugal - Algarve - Loulé |
| |
Inhabited since pre-historical times, Loulé was conquered to the Arabs in the 13th century.
The ancient monuments were partly destroyed by the earthquakes but
the castle walls shelter an interesting archaeological museum and in Vilamoura
you can visit the roman ruins on Cerro da Vila.
The municipal offers to its visitors beautiful beaches.
The city life of Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo and Vilamoura, with its internationally known Marina and the Casino, makes a contrast with the original remaining villages in the mountains of Serra do Caldeirão, like Alte, Benafim, Salir and Querença. |
