Saïdia ( 57 km in the north west of Oujda and 25 km north of Berkane )
Morocco is only 14 kilometres from Spain and on a clear day residents of the Costa del Sol can see the mountains of Africa on the horizon.
Known as the blue pearl of the Mediterranean the coastal city of Saïdia is fringed
by a natural bird reserve, marsh, woodland, seven kilometres of sandy beaches, and a beautiful marina. The marina covers an area of 290,000m2 with 740 berths and every imaginable facility. Berthing costs can be as little as £300 per year.
Saidia is a coastal resort and is set to become one of Europe's greatest tourist locations. It has an old fortress which dates back to the 17th century and a more recent 19th century kasbah. With 18 kilometres of white sandy beaches and the
sea a crystal blue - it is great for all types of watersports, with a lovely bay providing a safe place for sailing.
The city is lively and the locals easy going with a good assortment of bars, restaurants and shops.
Getting There
Ryanair confirmed their agreement with the Moroccan government to develop up to 20 new flight routes into Morocco.
Saidia is easily reached from Oujda, with plenty of buses and " grand taxis "
running between the two towns. Flights to Oujda are available via Casablanca.
Weather
The weather in the coastal regions of Morocco is good virtually all year round - very similar to the Costa del Sol. Average temperature in summer is 35°C and in winter it's 22°C. The months between October and April are cooler, providing welcome winter sun. |
