Pays-de-la-Loire is one of the 26 régions of France.
Pays-de-la-Loire is made up of the following historical provinces : 20% of Brittany with
its old capital Nantes, Anjou, Maine, most of Poitou, a part of Perche and a small part
of Touraine.
It is a region with lots of delights to explore. Many of the elegant chateauxs of its
noble past have been restored and are open to the public. Amongst the most popular
attractions of the area are Le Mans - famous for its annual car race,
Angers - where you can visit the worlds largest medieval tapestry and the troglodyte
museum near Saumur.
300 kms of beautiful Atlantic coastline offers long sandy beaches, enchanting bays,
fresh breezes and little islands for sailors, windsurfers and nature enthusiasts. Inland,
the flat landscape appeals to cyclists and walkers. There are many
historical towns within the region such as Nantes, Angers and Saumur. These are
a delight to explore with their many with churches, castles and museums.
Pays de la Loire is an excellent region for wine lovers as almost every wine imaginable
is produced somewhere here. |
