Because the Cape Verde Islands are located off the coast of Africa, they enjoy a great climate typically described as " dry tropical " with low humidity. Because it is situated in a zone where the Northeast winds predominate and increase intensity until the month of July, Cape Verde has a milder climate than those neighboring countries located on the same latitude.
The average temperature is between 22 - 26C ( some 3 degrees warmer than the canaries ) and there is an average of 12 hours of sunshine between November and July and 7 hours from August to October - the rainy season - when the majority of the average 10 inches of rain falls per year. The area is classified as low risk from natural disasters as it is naturally protected from hurricanes, unlike other
Caribbean islands.
The East winds blowing from the African continent is extremely warm and usually arrives during January and February.
