Bourgas is the fourth largest city in Bulgaria and the largest
city in Southeast of the country situated in the south-eastern part of the country. The
climate is very Mediterranean. The town, whilst industrial tends to act as the gateway to
the more famous beach resorts of Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Sozopol, Dyuni, Elenite, to name but
a few.
The airport is soon to feature a number of direct flights throughout the summer.
The introduction of tour programmes from major Northern European Cities will greatly
enhance the overall popularity of the country and area in particular.
The port of Bourgas is the biggest sea port in Bulgaria. In 1989 a duty free zone was created with the
objective to create more attractive and lucrative conditions
for foreign investors. Unlike some other
parts of the country the infrastructure of
the city is well progressed, very important the for development
of tourism, trade and is already encouraging prospective buyers to purchase second homes in the area.
Bourgas is not only an important industrial centre in the country, it has also considerable resources
for tourism. What attracts people here mostly is
undoubtedly the sea. Art and culture is also a key
component of the city not least
by the instigation of some 7 state-owned and 11 municipal institutes.
Bourgas is also a big university town with 2 universities and 4 colleges comprising more than 6200
Bulgarian and foreign students. Bourgas is the largest city in
South-eastern Bulgaria. The
surrounding countryside is most attractive with lakes sourced from the rivers Atoka, Russokastrenska,
Sredetska and Fakiiska.
